The Library of the Pedro Kourí Institute has three basic goals:

  • To support the scientific activity carried out at the institute, and all over the country, through the most current domestic and foreign scientific literature in the fields of medicine and biological sciences.

  • To make accessible to its users the most updated information available on their fields of action.

  • To carry out studies and to take the most out of the new techniques and technologies, such as computer network and web sites, in order to make access to bibliographic information quicker and easier.

To fulfill its goals, the Library counts on a wide document collection that includes: books, periodicals, theses, annual reports from national and international institutions and/or organizations, technical reports, proceedings, etc.

At present, the library has a virtual version in Spanish, The Virtual Health Library of Communicable Diseases, which is only accessible through the IPK's computer network, IPKnet.

As part of its own development, the Library has designed several automated systems, now under exploitation. These systems have two basic purposes: information storage and retrieval.

Opening hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
