The "Pedro Kourí" Tropical Medicine Institute, an institution of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, has among its obligations the well being and health of the Cuban population. In its educational frame, it has conceived a postgraduate education plan that includes, among others, the Master`s Degree Courses for national and foreign professional in the field of health/disease. At the same time, This postgraduate education plan is aimed at producing scientific knowledge, developing basic and applied investigations, delivering health services such as medical care, nursing, technical cooperation and specialized advising.

IPK counts on a staff of well-know researchers and titular professors in the different areas of the institutional scientific work areas, as well as on professors invited from other Cuban institutions and/or foreign institutions, to carry out the proposed objectives of the educational plan.

The recognized high level of these courses is guaranteed by international organizations like the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO).

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

  • To form professionals capable of developing different lines of investigation, with an original and independent educational formation.

DURATION OF THE COURSE: 

  • 1 Year

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. University Diploma. Medical doctors should also present the Specialty Diploma. Diplomas should be duly legalized.

  2. Certificate of grades obtained in both the medical career and the specialty.

  3. Updated Curriculum vitae and two photographs.

  4. To state the objectives to be achieved at the end of the course (Application form). Click here to download  the application form.

  5. Capability to read and understand scientific literature in English. Students should take a proficiency test.

  6. Knowledge on the computer field (operating systems, word processors, among others). Students should take a proficiency test.

  7. A letter of the director of the applicant's workplace, proposing the applicant´s participation in the Master`s Degree Course and the applicant's full time availability during a complete teaching year.

  8. Applicants to the Master's Degree Course in Epidemiology should have taken a basic biostatistics course previously.

  9. Work profiles of applying professionals should be related to Human Public Health.

  10. Applicants to the Master's Degree Course on Infectology and Tropical Diseases should be physicians.

  • Publications

  • English language and computer science certificates.

CHRONOGRAM     

  • All the documents should be at the IPK's Teaching Division before June 30, 2011.

  • The final result of the record selection process will issued on August 13, 2011.

  • The English and Computer Science Proficiency Tests will be taken in September 2011.
